Reviewed April 18, 2024 (edited April 19, 2024)Banana bread on the nose. On the palate, I get soft and smooth banana bread. This is definitely up my alley, but the banana bread notes on the palate are quite mellow. I prefer Old Forester 86 to this, but I would definitely repurchase.28.99 USD per Bottle -
I've been chasing after bourbons with banana bread notes. I recently had this at a gathering, so I couldn't take my usual time to enlighten my olfactory senses. However, on the palate, I definitely singled out banana bread. The banana bread notes aren't super strong on the palate but they are definitely there, and that's good enough for me. This was mostly smooth going down, with a very slight and short-lived kick. I will definitely add this to my collection soon.37.99 USD per Bottle

After finding and enjoying banana bread notes in Larceny, I searched for other inexpensive whiskeys with banana bread notes. Old Forester 86 did not disappoint. I get things like banana bread and cherries on the nose, and I can really hone in on banana bread on the palate. Midway through the palate phase, I get a slight, but definitely tolerable, kick from the rye in here. This is absolutely a keeper in my bar. For an entry-level and low-cost bourbon, this is crazy good and an excellent bang for my buck.20.99 USD per Bottle

Old Crow was the first bourbon I ever tasted. It's actually somewhat decent. To me, it's not fabulous, but it's not rotgut. It tastes better when adding water, which I rarely do with whisk(e)y. I generally like my drinks neat. However, the deal-breaker for me with Old Crow is that it gives me terribly bad breath the next morning.11.99 USD per Bottle

Oak and vanilla on the nose and palate. I know there's more complex stuff out there, but I enjoy this. This is my weekday pour. This is what's in my glass when I've had a rough day. This is what I order at a restaurant when there are no other options that appeal to me. In short, Jim Beam White is my "old reliable" pour.17.99 USD per Bottle
